Caitlin Clark to Fever: Indiana’s Depth Chart, Starting Lineup After 2024 WNBA Draft

by Timothy Rapp

The Indiana Fever are going to be fun in the 2024 season.

With Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark selected at No. 1 overall, the Fever now have arguably the best young core in the sport and an inside-outside duo that also features last year’s top overall pick, Aliyah Boston, who was an All-Star selection and Rookie of the Year in 2023.

So, how does this team’s depth chart look this upcoming season? Let’s break it down.

G: Caitlin Clark / Erica Wheeler / Grace Berger

G: Kelsey Mitchell / Kristy Wallace / Maya Caldwell

F: Katie Lou Samuelson / Lexie Hull

F: NaLyssa Smith / Damiris Dantas / Victaria Saxton

C: Aliyah Boston

The Fever have no shortage of talented guards, but it’s hard to imagine Clark won’t immediately slide into the starting lineup as the point guard. Given that Mitchell led the team in scoring a year ago, she should slide into a starting spot as the 2, though Wheeler should see a lot of playing time as well after averaging five assists per game as the starting point guard a season ago.

That has created a bit of a logjam at guard, where Berger needs playing time but may find it hard to carve out significant minutes. One of Wallace or Berger will be squeezed out of a role unless the Fever play small with more regularity.

But these are good problems for a team to have. The Fever look poised to have a very good starting lineup and could finally end a seven-year playoff drought if Clark is able to hit the ground running at the WNBA level.

It will be an adjustment, no doubt, but Clark will also have the benefit of playing with far more talented teammates than she had at Iowa. The inside-out duo of Clark and Boston, paired with Mitchell’s scoring and a solid forward line, make the Fever a very fun and dangerous young team heading into the season.
