Opinion – The Fever Need to Put Their Big Girl Panties on and Become a Team

by indyprosports

Do you know the name Charles Oakley? How about Marty McSorley? Or for the Pacer fans Dale Davis? Maybe Ron Artest? Know what these names have to do with each other? If someone went after their team’s star player, they made sure pay back was dished out.

Charles Oakley was Michael Jordan’s enforcer. Marty McSorley was Wayne Gretzky’s enforcer. Dale Davis and Ron Artest made sure no one messed with Reggie Miller. After watching the latest cheap shot on Caitlin Clark, it is clear that someone had better step up and give the other team a taste of their own medicine.

Let’s look at the last two incidents with Caitlin Clark. The first was Tuesday night with Victoria Vivians of the Seattle Storm. Vivians, who was released by the Fever during training camp, decided to start trouble. Vivians is not good enough to carry Caitlin Clark’s baggage. She is trying to make a name for herself as she has never scored more than 10 points in a game.

Next is the cheap shot from Chennedy Carter’s blind side shot during the Fever’s latest win. If that had happened in an NBA game, fists would have been thrown. Players would want to leave the bench to protect their player. Why did Aliyah Boston not get in Carter’s face? She only helped Caitlin up.

It’s time to handle things the way it was done in the old days. I wouldn’t worry about Chennedy Carter. She’s a fringe player trying to get her five seconds in the limelight. I would retaliate against their best player. In this case Angel Reese. Maybe it’s time for her to see what cheap shots and physicality feels like. I bet she wouldn’t turn the other cheek.

How about Seattle? Maybe if Skyler Diggins-Smith accidentally gets her knee banged hard enough to miss a game. Or if Nneka Ogwumike accidentally gets an elbow to the nose while rebounding. I don’t want to say I want someone to get put on the injured list. Just a reminder to say what comes around to go around.

This year’s Pacer team had James Johnson. NO ONE wants to mess with him. I don’t know if the Fever has a player like that, but they better find one.

Before Caitlin Clark’s on the injured list and no one will care about the WNBA again.
