Indy Eleven Announces Signing of Notre Dame Standout Ethan O’Brien

INDIANAPOLIS (Wednesday, March 6, 2024) – Indy Eleven has today announced the addition of midfielder Ethan O’Brien to its USL Championship squad for the 2024 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed, and status is pending league and federation approval.

It’s a family business in Indianapolis as Ethan joins his brother Josh (signed Feb. 1, 2024) as a member of the Boys in Blue. Ethan played his college soccer at Notre Dame, finishing up in 2023. In three seasons with the Fighting Irish, Ethan played in 46 matches, making 34 starts, and registered three goals and seven assists. During the 2021 season, Ethan tallied assists in back-to-back games against Wake Forest and Pitt to help lead Notre Dame to an NCAA Tournament Semifinal appearance.

In his final year as a grad student, Ethan started 14 of 15 matches played. He tallied four points off a goal and two assists with one goal coming against the Duke Blue Devils, earning him TopDrawerSoccer’s Goal of the Season.

Ethan led Columbus Crew SC Academy to the quarterfinals of National Development Academy Playoffs, recording 29 goals and 25 assists during his time at the club.

Indy opens the 2024 slate on a two-match road swing beginning at non-conference foe Oakland Roots SC on Saturday before returning home to host 2023 Western Conference Champion Sacramento Republic FC at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on March 23.
