Fuel Head to Iowa for Three Game Road Trip

INDIANAPOLIS – The Fuel head to Iowa for their first and only road trip of the season against the Heartlanders.

LAST TIME OUT

It was a two-game homestand for the Fuel as they welcomed in Iowa to Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The Fuel took Game 1 but the Heartlanders stormed back in Game 2, splitting the series 1-1.

Both games were convincing wins for each side with the Fuel winning 4-1 in the first game and Iowa taking the victory 7-3 in Game 2 off the back of five power plays goals in nine opportunities.

STAYING DISCIPLINED

The Fuel are currently third in the ECHL in penalty minutes and first in the Western Central Division. Last time out, they found themselves in a man disadvantage 16 times through the two games against Iowa.

The Heartlanders had a hard time at even strength but had no problems on the power play. Of the eight goals scored by the Heartlanders in these team’s first two matchups, five were scored on the power play.

The Fuel must stay out of the box and keep it an even-strength game to have the best chance at victory.

AROUND THE DIVISION

The Toledo Walleye have been holding the lead in the division with 63 points, despite a 3-3-2-2 record in their last 10 games. The Nailers have won 12 straight, putting them in second place with 58 points with the Fuel trailing behind in third with 54 points. The Komets are hot on their tail with 52 points in fourth place. Kalamazoo creeps behind in fifth place with 49 points, followed by Cincinnati with 46 points and Iowa with 45.
