The INDYCAR Team Owner/Driver Will Serve as Chair for the Event’s 11th Year
INDIANAPOLIS — Rev, presented by Fifth Third Bank, has announced Ed and Heather Carpenter as honorary co-chairs for Rev 2024. Ed Carpenter is the only individual in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES to handle the responsibility of driving the race car and owning his team.
Rev, the signature event for Indiana University Health Foundation, will kick off the Month of May for the 11th year at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 4. Rev, which sold out in record time, will feature chefs from some of the best restaurants Central Indiana has to offer. Artists and entertainment acts will perform throughout the event. The evening ends with a dance party on the racetrack’s famed Yard of Bricks start-finish line as a DJ plays music from the flag stand above the
track.
“Heather and I are thrilled to be honorary co-chairs for Rev, as it has established itself as the kickoff for the best month of the year,” Ed Carpenter said, “This event lets us celebrate IMS, IU Health and our entire community as we begin preparation for ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’ Most importantly, it raises money for vital programs that take care of both drivers and fans at the track. The partnership between IU Health and IMS has an incredibly long history, and I can’t wait to play a key role in a night celebrating the innovation and success between the two.”
Said Heather Carpenter: “Rev has become an annual date night for myself and Ed, which is funny as our relationship started when I was an IU Health employee working at IMS in the infield care center. One of my very first jobs was as an EMT, and serving as honorary chairs together feels like our love story has come full circle. Living in Indianapolis, it’s great to see how different members of our community from racing, restaurants and healthcare come together for a single night to raise money for such an important cause. We look forward to seeing everyone at Rev in May!”
Rev organizers announced the honorary chairs Thursday at Capri Italian Restaurant in Indianapolis. The event featured a mini “Taste of Rev” experience, including Capri bites and libations.
“Ed and Heather Carpenter are admired and respected by so many in Central Indiana for their commitment to the region and dedication to charitable causes that help Hoosiers,” IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. “Rev is an event that celebrates the long-awaited arrival of the Month of May at IMS and raises funds and awareness of the vital work of the IU Health Foundation, so it’s only fitting that Ed and Heather are co-chairs this year. Ed is one of the most popular Indianapolis 500 drivers of the last two decades, and Heather knows about the important work of IU Health as well as anyone since she first met Ed as an IU Health worker at IMS.”
Rev is IU Health Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser. Since its beginning, Rev has raised more than $10 million for trauma, injury prevention and critical care programs. Proceeds have made it possible for expansions to the IU Health Lifeline fleet, enabling the Lifeline team to provide emergency care while transporting patients statewide. Event proceeds also benefit drivers and fans at the IU Health Emergency Medical Center at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is part of the IU Health Methodist Hospital Level I Trauma Program.
“As Rev enters its second decade, we continue to be extremely grateful for the donors, volunteers and community leaders who have helped Rev raise over $10 million since its inception,” said Crystal Miller, president, IU Health Foundation and senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer, IU Health. “Ed and Heather Carpenter are well-loved fixtures in our city, and we are excited to have them on board helping us raise crucial funds that support trauma, critical care and behavioral health support programs across Indiana.”
As one of the most experienced drivers in the field, 2024 will be Carpenter’s 22nd season of INDYCAR competition. Competing exclusively in oval events, the 43-year-old has 24 top-10 finishes since starting Ed Carpenter Racing. He solidified his status as a hometown favorite when he scored back-to-back pole positions for the Indianapolis 500 in 2013 and 2014. In 2018, he became only the 10th driver in the 102-year history of the Indianapolis 500 to win three or more pole positions.
Rev 2024, Rev’s 11th annual event, sold out in less than eight minutes Dec. 1. Those who wish to join the waitlist may do so at RevIndy.org/attend.
