ABOUT THE HOCKEY:
INDIANAPOLIS– The Fuel will host the Iowa Heartlanders for a two-game set to start the weekend. This is the first time this season that these two Central division teams will meet.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was April 8, 2023 when the Fuel defeated the Heartlanders 2-1. Current captain, Seamus Malone scored the game winning goal while goaltender Mitchell Weeks made 22 saves to give the Fuel their 40th win of the 2022-23 season.
HEARTLANDERS HYPE
Iowa comes into this weekend in last place in the Central division with a 15-18-5-1 record and 36 points. They are 4-5-1-0 in their last ten games and snapped a two-game losing streak on Wednesday night when they defeated Cincinnati for the first time in franchise history. With just eight points separating the second and last placed teams in the Central division, it is a tight race that could benefit Iowa.
ALL-STAR ABILITY
After representing the Fuel in the ECHL All-Star Game with one goal and two assists, Cam Hillis returns to the lineup ready to crack 40 points so far on the season. Headed into the weekend, he leads the team handily with 39 points including 30 assists. He is on pace to break Indy’s single season points record.
