Swarm Defeat Indiana Mad Ants In Overtime Thriller

GREENSBORO – The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, step into victory against the Indiana Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers affiliate) on Sunday afternoon, documenting Greensboro’s 22nd sell out in franchise history during an overtime matchup.

FIRST QUARTER

Marques Bolden ignited the game for the Swarm with his first opening basket in Greensboro. The first quarter unfolded closely, marked by four ties and four lead changes. With tied at 20-20 just under the three-minute mark, the Swarm capitalized on the momentum, surging ahead to a 28-22 lead to conclude the quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

The back-and-forth continued into the first half, with Indiana’s Kyle Mangas and Oscar Tshiebwe accounting for a total of 25 team points. Approaching the half, the Max Ants turned up the heat, orchestrating a comeback taking the lead at 55-53.

THIRD QUARTER

The second half started off strong with defensive efforts from both teams for a close period. As the clock ticked down to the three-minute mark, the teams found themselves deadlocked at 69-69. It was powerhouse Terrell Brown Jr. who seized possession propelling the Swarm into the lead at 77-76 to conclude the quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER

The Mad Ants speared a comeback, picking up speed in the fourth and expanded the lead to 91-83. MJ Walker Jr. had a standout performance, reaching his season-high with an impressive 17 points, fueling Swarm’s performance. The intensity escalated as Brown Jr. as. added two more points, bringing the contest to a nail-biting 101-103. He then tied the game at 103-103 right under 30 seconds. The Swarm gained possession, and with the pressure on, they went for the winning shot ultimately extended into overtime.

OVERTIME

After gaining possession from the jump ball in overtime, the Mad Ants swiftly made the first basket, leveling the score at 105-105. Brown Jr. responded with a two-point play, maintaining the deadlock at 105-105. His stellar play led to a career-high of 31 points. Both teams exchanging back-and-forth baskets, keeping the score within a single point. With the score standing at 108-107 in favor of the Swarm, Walker Jr secured the game point, propelling the Swarm to a thrilling victory.

Five Swarm players finished in double-digits, Brown Jr. led the way with a game high of 31 points, Jaylen Sims tallied with 22 points, Walker Jr. finishing with 17 points, Marcus Garrett with 11 points, and Kent Bazemore followed with 10 points. Two Mad Ants earned double-doubles, Elfied Payton (20 points and 11 assists), Oscar Tshiebwe (20 points and 14 rebounds).
