INDIANAPOLIS (Thursday, March 7, 2024) – Indy Eleven has today announced the addition of Undrafted Program product and defender Jay Klein to its USL Championship roster. Per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed, and status is pending league and federation approval.

Prior to joining the Boys in Blue, Klein previously signed with Fort Wayne FC in USL League 2 before joining the Dayton Dutch Lions, making 12 appearances and serving as team captain. In 2023, Klein joined the Wabash College coaching staff as an assistant.

Hailing from Wyoming, Ohio, Klein was a four-year starter in high school, before migrating to the Hoosier state to play his college soccer at DePauw University. Klein hit his stride during his junior and senior seasons, starting all 36 games and leading the team in goals (11) and points (25) as a senior, while adding three match winners. Overall, Klein made 58 appearances (43 starts), scoring 16 goals and registering six assists. He earned First-Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors and was a First-Team All-Region selection by the United Soccer Coaches.

Klein joins the Boys in Blue through the first season of the Undrafted Program where he competed against other undrafted hopefuls to try and earn a spot on Indy’s USL Championship squad. The unique training camp offers prospective pros a chance to get on the radar of the Indy Eleven technical staff. Trialists earn the opportunity to showcase their talents and be evaluated as they chase the ultimate prize – a spot in Indy Eleven’s preseason training camp. Season two of Undrafted tryouts begin Mid-May.
