Eleven Finishes Season with 5-0 Loss To Charleston in Eastern Conference Quarterfinals

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Indy Eleven exited the USL Championship Playoffs after a 5-0 loss to Charleston Battery on the road Sunday afternoon.

Charleston scored in the 12th minute off an Arturo Rodriguez corner that was headed in by Emilio Ycaza to give the home team an early 1-0 lead. Augustine Williams found the back of the net from the top of the box to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 37th minute. A few minutes later, in the 40th minute, Charleston added another goal after a Fidel Barajas counterattack found the head of Arturo Rodriguez making 3-0.  

At the break, Charleston led 3-0 with seven shots and four shots on target compared to Indy’s two shots and one on target.

Charleston started the second half just as quickly, scoring its fourth as Barajas joined the scoresheet in the 47th minute. The final goal came from Nick Markanich who scored from close range to extend the score line to 5-0 in the 63rd minute.

The playoff appearance was Indy’s first since 2019 after finishing the regular season at 13-11-10. The all-time USL Championship Playoffs record for the Eleven moves to 2-3-0.
