Colts’ Alec Pierce Dealing with Shoulder Injury

by Kevin Hickey

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce is dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered during the Week 6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Head coach Shane Steichen told reporters Monday that the team is evaluating the injury and that an update would likely come later in the week.

The second-year wide receiver hasn’t had the type of breakout campaign many had hoped for. The arrival of Josh Downs in the slot has taken away a lot of looks from the deep threat, and the quick-passing game under Gardner Minshew has negated the potential for consistent chunk plays coming Pierce’s way.

On the season, Pierce has 11 receptions on 20 targets for 149 receiving yards. If he is to miss time, it likely means more snaps for Downs along with Isaiah McKenzie and Amari Rodgers.
