Preview of Eleven – Charleston Battery Match

Venue: Michael A. Carroll Stadium
Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+

The Lowdown: Indy Eleven will try to rebound from a setback last time out as it squares off with the Charleston Battery, with the Boys in Blue looking for a season sweep of the series to solidify their playoff credentials against a Battery side that has won two of its last three outings. Indy (5-7-5, 20pts) remained in seventh place in the Eastern Conference after a 1-0 defeat to FC Tulsa on Saturday night in which the side recorded a single-season high 20 shots but was unable to answer an early goal by the visitors at Carroll Stadium. Indy has now won once in its last five outings, but the side did take a 4-0 victory when it visited Patriots Point earlier this season in a game that saw Charleston reduced to 10 players after just 19 seconds. Leland Archer was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity, with the resultant penalty kick being converted by Aodhan Quinn to pave the way to victory for the visitors. The Battery (9-5-4, 31pts) have lost three in a row to Indy overall but are sitting much more comfortably in third place in the East after a 3-0 victory against Loudoun United FC in their last outing on June 30 in which Nick Markanich scored a pair of goals. With a chance to pull level on points with current Eastern Conference leader the Tampa Bay Rowdies with a victory, Charleston will be pushing for its first win against Indy since the 2019 season.

Spotlight Players
Indy Eleven – Sebastian Guenzatti:
The veteran forward has recorded three goals so far this season while being ever-present in the lineup and will be looking for a more productive start to the second half of the campaign.

Charleston Battery – Fidel Barajas: The 17-year-old is set to return to action after international duty during Charleston’s last outing and remains tied for the league-lead with five assists entering the week.
