WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — The Indy Eleven women’s team punched its ticket to the USL W League National Final on Friday night.
The Girls in Blue beat San Francisco Glens SC 3-2 thanks to a stoppage time goal in the 91st minute from defender/midfielder Alia Martin, which ultimately won the match for Indy.
The Girls in Blue got the scoring started in the 14th minute when Addie Chester found the back of the net to give Indy a 1-0 lead. It was her fourth goal of the season.
San Francisco responded in the 40th minute on a set piece goal from Nadia Gomes.
The Eleven scored again in the 50th minute thanks to Maddy Williams, who scored off an assist from Sam Dewey. It was Williams’ eighth goal of the season.
Once again, San Francisco responded, when Camryn Penn found the back of the net in the 64th minute.
The match went to stoppage time tied at 2-2 before Martin’s game-winning header.
The Girls in Blue will face NC Courage U23 in the championship match. It will kick off at Carroll Stadium at 2 p.m. EDT on Saturday, July 22.
This will be Indy’s first-ever trip to the USL W League National Final.
